Date: 1st week of November (The exact date has not been declared yet)
Duration: 3 days 2 nights
Minimum Group Size: 8 persons
The “Rash Mela” a popular Hindu festival in honor of lord Krishna and Shri Randhika is observed in the Bangla month of Kartik (October/November). In Sundarbans it takes place at Dubla Island located on the southern coast of Sundarbans and at the mouth of the Ganges delta, where the holy Ganges unites with the sea.
Like every year we are happy to declare the Rash Mela Trip for 2017. This Trip will mainly focus on the festival and the Dubla fishing village, but this trip will also have some basic sundarbans activity in the Katka Wildlife Sanctuary, like silent country boat trip in the narrow creeks, walk through the meadow, beach walk and swimming in the Bay of Bengal. On the way back you will also have a short walk on a wooden trail through a beautiful patch of Sundri forest at the Harbaria Eco Park.
This trip will allow you to witness the unique and amazing fishing activity and experience the unique life of the fishermen living in Dubla Island. And the whole place is so photogenic that even a amateur photographer could spend days. And finally if you are a dry-fish lover- Dubla is your Heaven!!!
Day 1: CRUISE THROUGH THE FOREST
The boat will start in the early morning from Khulna Jailkhana Ghat. By the time you’ll finish your breakfast the boat will enter the forest and will continue cruising though the forest till it will reach the Katka Wildlife Sanctuary in the evening. The boat will be staying here for the night. It’s the night before the full moon. So, after the dinner enjoy the moon from the observation deck. Keep your ears open to hear the night wildlife. At this time of year in Katka it wouldn’t be unexpected if you hear the Big Cat.
DAY 2: ACTIVITY IN KATKA AND CRUISE TO DUBLA
Early morning, after a coffee, join the silent country boat trip inside the narrow creeks. It’s the best way to observe wildlife, especially bird life. After a delightful breakfast get ready for next few hours. Take a walk through the meadow of Jamtala, where the spotted deer roam around with a curious look at the passing tourists, and a short jungle walk to feel the mud and the roots. It will take about 45 minutes to an hour to reach Badamtala Beach. After a swim in the tropical warm water enjoy a light snack while drying up yourselves in the comfortable sun and then head back to the boat with a huge appetite. While you’re having your lunch, the boat will start cruise towards Dubla Island and arrive there in the evening. Get to the shore and enjoy the festivity, then enjoy a late BBQ dinner.
DAY 3: WITNESS THE HOLY BATH AND CRUISE BACK
The devotees will be starting their rituals before the Sunrise. Enjoy the holy bath and the festivity till late morning. At this point with the starting of high tide the boat will start to cruise back towards Khulna/Mongla. On the way the boat will stop at the Harbaria Eco Park for a beautiful walk on the wooden trail. The boat will reach Khulna in the evening and you disembark after a good bye dinner.
